bannerOvercoming the Philippines in their home soil is certainly a difficult task for Nepal head coach Gyotoku Koji and his men, but going by Nepal’s new found form which has seen them remain undefeated in the last eight matches since early 2016, Nepal have a reason to believe that they can upset Philippines when they locks horn in their first match of the AFC Asia Cup 2019 Qualifiers to be held at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila on Tuesday.

In the last three matches the two sides have met, the Philippines have won all three matches with a good margin, but the statistics has not deterred the confidence of the Nepali side who are ready to throw down the gauntlet against the home side.

Nepal team’s Biraj Maharjan says the winning results in the previous matches have boosted the confidence of the squad despite the results of the previous encounters against the home team.

Nepal coach Gyotoku Koji says his side can bag three points against the home team should they play to their
potentials.

“Philippines are a good side. But we have a balanced squad and if the team play to their potentials, bagging three points is not a big deal,” adds Koji.

On the other hand, Philippines skipper James Younghusband says the match will be for their taking if his side amend their mistakes that cost them dear during their friendly against Malaysia few days ago. The match had ended in a goalless draw.
